1. Other Asian ice cream companies (both U.S. and imported brands) contain unwanted ingredients like Carrageenan, Corn Syrup and GMO ingredients.
2. Some take ice cream and add flavors to it. At Noona's, we start with flavors we are absolutely passionate about and make a naturally delicious scoop. It's what makes our ice creams worth digging into!
3. Not overly sweet, we keep our flavor profiles simple and unique. Enjoy our ice creams straight out of the pint or with cookies, pie or any other favorite treat.
CHERRY SPICED TEA.
CINNAMON GINGER PEAR "SWEET AS BAE".
TURMERIC HONEYCOMB "LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE".
Our signature flavor is inspired by our love of rice! We create this flavor by slowly toasting Korean brown rice and whole grains and steeping it like a tea into our base of fresh sustainable dairy until the perfect point. The result? A smooth buttercream texture with a nutty sweet flavor reminiscent of Korean rice tea or the caramelized layer of rice that forms on the bottom of a pan of cooked rice. This layer of toasted rice is called Nooroongji (누룽지) in Korean.
“LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE”
Sunshine in a cup? Our Little Miss Sunshine is all you need. Delight in handfuls of organic turmeric, sweet cream and gooey ribbons of old-fashioned Korean honeycomb candy.
Ppop-gi is an old-fashioned Korean honeycomb candy. The taste is like a bittersweet caramel and when folded into ice cream, it creates beautiful gooey caramel-like ribbons sure to make you smile.
As Noona’s favorite, we had to make this Asian classic that much better. Nutty, bitter with slight undertones of chocolate, our black sesame seeds are roasted and stone ground into a paste before being fully blended into our sweet cream. Roasted whole seeds are folded in at the end to bring out the unique complexity of this beloved flavor. Enjoy with your favorite chocolate chip cookies.
The flavor profile of this toasted white sesame ice cream is the essence of Korean cuisine. It has depth, brightness, and the perfect balance of savory and sweet. Made with a touch of toasted sesame oil and whole Korean sesame seeds, enjoy with a drizzle of honey or sesame oil and extra seeds. It’s also our go-to flavor for an affogato - this pairing blew us away!
Organic Green Tea leaves stone ground and cold-steeped in our grass-fed dairy. Earthy, lush and pure. This one's a total gem.
Nok-cha is the Korean word for Green Tea. On the island of Jeju, off the Southern Coast of South Korea, you can find strikingly rich fields of Green Tea. Green Tea is not just consumed by the cup or used for sweet treats, but added to broths, noodles, beauty products and even hot springs. Green Tea is a way of life.
CHERRY SPICED TEA
South Korea has a long history of making tea with fruits and the spices from roots and barks of woody and flowery plants. Our Cherry Spiced Tea is inspired by a traditional Korean tea called “Sujeonggwa”.
Sujeonggwa is a traditional Korean spiced tea made with cinnamon, ginger and peppercorns. It's often paired with fruit, and we partnered with Brooklyn maker Stagg Jam to create a tart cherry jam that makes this flavor stand out.
CINNAMON GINGER PEAR
"SWEET AS BAE"
Korean spiced tea with pear!
South Korea has a long history of making tea with fruits and the spices from roots and barks of woody and flowery plants. Sujeonggwa (수정과) is a traditional Korean tea made with warm spices, mainly cinnamon and ginger. Often paired with sweet fruit, we reimagined this flavor by blending notes of pear to our base of spiced sweet cream.
"I love ice cream and I love being a noona! The word noona stands for everything I am passionate about: giving the gift of ice cream, creating new traditions while honoring the tried and true, and the joy that comes when people across the world connect through the sharing of good food and recipes."
- HANNAH BAE AKA NOONA
Noona's Ice Cream was founded by Hannah Bae, a noona that simply loves making ice cream and bringing people together.
Although sweets are not traditionally the highlight of Korean cuisine, ice cream has always been a part of any special occasion in the Bae family. Bae's fondest memories revolve around family meals that always ended with ice cream and the sharing of culture through food and laughter.
Inspired by flavors of home, Bae created a flavor she calls Toasted Rice and is now a signature flavor of Noona's Ice Cream. When Bae shared her Toasted Rice ice cream for the first time in 2014, it stuck with people and word spread. It wasn't soon after that Bae began hand-delivering her Toasted Rice pints throughout the 5 boroughs, and began developing flavors that focused on providing a refreshing new approach to the Korean flavors she grew up with.
In 2015, Noona's Ice Cream was created with a simple mission: to make the best Asian ice cream flavors in the world and build a company that cares for the world through its values and community involvement. We are proud to partner with non-profit organizations that focus on opportunities for young people.
